IT Support for Architects in Clerkenwell and Farringdon
Clerkenwell and Farringdon are home to one of the densest clusters of architecture and design studios in London. WIT provides specialist AEC IT support to practices across EC1, from St John Street to Old Street, with engineers a short journey across the river from our Southwark office.
Specialist IT for architecture, engineering and construction since 2013. ISO 27001 certified since 2018, ISO 9001 certified since 2023 and Cyber Essentials certified. We already support practices in EC1, WC1 and N1.
London’s design district
IT for the studios of EC1
Clerkenwell’s studios tend to share a profile: talented teams in characterful buildings, mixed Mac and Windows estates, heavy models and a client list that expects proper security. The IT has to keep up with all of it without anyone in the studio having to think about it.
Clerkenwell
Studios around Clerkenwell Green, St John Street and Clerkenwell Road often occupy upper floors of period and converted industrial buildings. Server cupboards with no cooling and cabling that predates the practice are common; we plan around both.
Farringdon
The Elizabeth line has made Farringdon one of London’s best-connected places to work; hybrid working is now the norm. We make sure Revit and design software perform as well from home as they do in the studio.
Barbican and Smithfield
Shared and serviced buildings with landlord-managed networks. We keep your practice systems, data and identities separate from the building’s and evidence it when a client asks.
Old Street and the Shoreditch fringe
Fast-growing studios that add people quickly. Joiners need a workstation, the right licences and access to the right projects on day one, not after three separate tickets.
Islington, Angel and King’s Cross
We already support practices in N1. The same service, the same team and the same understanding of project-based design work.
Bloomsbury and Holborn
Practices in WC1 work with us too. From Southwark, the West End and the City fringe are a short journey for our engineers.
What practices here ask us for
Specialist IT for design-led practices in EC1
The same service we provide across London, shaped around central models, large files, immovable deadlines and clients who increasingly ask about security.
Managed IT support
Day-to-day support from engineers who understand Revit, worksharing and the rhythm of a project programme.
- A named team that knows your practice and its deadlines
- Remote first, on site when it matters
Mac, Windows and mixed estates
Many EC1 studios run Macs for design and Windows for Revit. We support Windows, macOS and Linux, so nobody is forced onto one platform.
- Native Windows workstations or virtual desktops for Revit
- Apple devices managed alongside everything else
Virtual workstations
High-performance design desktops for hybrid teams, delivered through Inevidesk, with project data kept in the UK.
- GPU performance from home or the studio
- Scale up for a bid, down afterwards
Cyber security and Cyber Essentials
Proportionate controls you can evidence when a client, framework or insurer asks, from a provider certified to ISO 27001 since 2018.
- Cyber Essentials readiness and certification
- Answers ready for PQQs and client questionnaires

Questions we get asked
Frequently asked questions
Do you provide on-site IT support in Clerkenwell and Farringdon?
Yes. Our engineers work from Mint House on Southwark Bridge Road, a short journey across the river from EC1. Most issues are resolved remotely; when someone needs to be in the room, they come to you.
Which areas north of the river do you cover?
Clerkenwell, Farringdon, the Barbican, Smithfield, Old Street, the Shoreditch fringe, Islington, Angel, King’s Cross, Bloomsbury and Holborn, along with the rest of central London. We already support practices in EC1, WC1 and N1.
Do you support Mac-based studios?
Yes. WIT supports Windows, macOS and Linux, which is common in design practices running mixed estates. Where Revit is needed on a Mac-first team, we provide native Windows workstations or virtual desktops rather than relying on virtualisation on the laptop.
What size of practice do you work with?
Most of the practices we support have between 10 and 120 people. Smaller studios and larger multi-office firms are welcome too; the service is scaled to the size and complexity of the estate.
We are in a shared or serviced building. Can you still help?
Yes. We work alongside the building’s network rather than against it, keeping your devices, data and accounts separate from other tenants and making sure your security does not depend on a landlord’s set-up.
What certifications does WIT hold?
WIT has been certified to ISO 27001 (information security) since 2018 and to ISO 9001 (quality) since 2023. It also holds Cyber Essentials certification.
